Here are some before and after pictures of the hall bathroom. I’m thinking about staining the cabinets a darker color. After looking at the pictures let me know what you think about me darkening up the cabinets a bit.
This is what the bathroom looked like when the house closed.
The Bathroom TO DO list:
- Replace all towel bars
- Remove Baseboards
- Replace mirror
- Prime and Paint all walls, ceiling, door, door casing
- Replace door hardware
- Install new baseboards and board and batten with shelf
- Decorate with new accessories
- Possibly stain cabinets dark
This is the bathroom in the “during” stage
Finally the painting and B&B was finished and it was time to add the finishing touches.
I found these adorable signs from one of my favorite blogs, J & A and Company. Andrea shares some of her printable signs here.
The shower curtain is from Target and the striped hand towels are from Great Indoors but they are almost an exact match.
We are enjoying the hall bathroom now that it is a little more my style. I’m just not sure about staining the cabinets or not. What do you think?

What a fantastic project. Just beautiful!! Megan
Saw you over at TDC party- your bathroom looks fantastic! Love the board & batten. As for staining a darker color, maybe try on the inside of a door to see how you like it? Or instead of staining the cabinets, what about just adding a darker glaze? It would give you richer color without the headache of trying to get a stain to go on evenly.
Great Idea. I may just end up with a glaze instead of a stain. Thanks for stopping by.
Beautiful transformation! I love the board and batten. I think the cabinets would look lovely in a darker color – would really contrast the white!
Great job! Visiting from the Serendipity & Spice party!
So cute! I love what you did with it!

I LOVE it. The simple signs above the towel hooks sorta “make it” in my opinion. I do not think staining the cabinets is necessary. The light color “goes” with the curtain and towels I think.
Hi! I stumbled across your bathroom redo while thumbing through a linky party. It is beautiful! I want to invite you to join in on my first linky party… maybe even link your bathroom redo! It’s wonderful!
Thanks for sharing!
Heather
Thanks for the invite, Heather. I’ll be there.
I LOVE the batten board. I love the light colors in there. I would probably leave it, because i like light colors, but i think it would look fine with darker cabinets too.
What a great transformation! I love it! What do you think about painting them white? I have white cabinets in the kitchen, newly painted and have a dark buffet and I like it together, so either could work! Great job!!!
Love your bathroom makeover, it is gorgeous! Thanks for linking up.

I would stain the cabinets darker. I LOVE the mirror! Thanks for linking to Handmade Tuesdays.
This is lovely, Lauren! I love the board and batten look in a bathroom, it really looks very clean and classic.
It turned out great! Great great job! I love the board and batten!!!
Love the board and batten! For some reason it seems so perfect in a bathroom! I bet it would look fabulous with darker cabinets!
Super cute makeover. I bet the white is so much brighter. Love the look!!
It looks fantastic! Great transformation. I just re-stained my bathroom cabinet a darker color. The hardest part is the sanding. I’m really enjoying the change. Somehow it looks more “custom”. Saw you on Delightful Order, this is great and I love the shelves above the sink
It looks amazing!! I love the signs too! So cute. Thanks for sharing this at The Little Giggler!!
Great makeover! I always adore board & batten and those sign artwork are adorable!
Love the look! we wanted to use bead board in our bathroom but were unsure how to but it up against the tile in the shower – any tips?
I put bead board in my daughter’s bedroom and it was easy to install so I think you would be fine against the tile in the bathroom. I always like how it looks in the bathroom too. Good luck.
Very pretty bathroom. I really like the paint color. Yes, the cabinets would look great darker. I saw you at Too Much Time’s party.
Happy Easter,
Shasta
Hi. I’m visiting from Simply Klassic Home. The bathroom looks great! I love the wall color. I can really envision darker cabinets looking so striking against the white and blue. I say go for it.
I have a mirror very much like the one you put in this bathroom, but it’s dark wood and I bought it retail. I’ve been torn about whether or not to keep it, but after seeing yours, I’m inspired. I sense a paint job in my future.

I love your board and batten!
Gorgeous! Love the walls AND the paint color. Beautiful!
“Finished Hall Bathroom | Totally Lauren Amber” was in fact seriously pleasurable and beneficial!
In modern world that is quite hard to execute.
Thanks a lot, Walker
I love the paint color! What brand and paint color is it? Also, what type of paint finish do you use (flat, satin, semi-gloss, gloss)? I’d also like to know what color the white paint it. It’s so hard to pick the right “white”, but I really like how yours looks.
Thanks for posting your pictures.
Hi Shelly,
The paint color is Silver Sage from Restoration Hardware. I had it color matched at Sherwin Williams and I am pretty sure it is a flat finish. Thanks for stopping by.
